In 1954, Elvis Presley signed a contract with Sun Records and gave his notice at his day job at The Crown Electric Company. Sam Phillips from Sun Records originally intended to use the 19-year-old Elvis to make demos of songs meant for other artists.

In 1962, The Rolling Stones (billed as The Rollin’ Stones) made their live debut at the Marquee Jazz Club in London, with bassist Dick Taylor (later of The Pretty Things) and drummer Mick Avory (later of The Kinks).

In 1969, Blind Faith, featuring Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, and Ginger Baker, launched their only tour with a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden.

In 1969, Zager And Evans started a six-week run at #1 on the US singles chart with “In The Year 2525 (Exordium And Terminus).”

In 1983, Former Traffic saxophonist and flautist Chris Wood died of liver failure after a lengthy illness. Wood had also worked with Jimi Hendrix, John Martyn, and Small Faces.
