In 1967, Bob Dylan and The Band began recording the legendary Basement Tapes in Woodstock, New York.
In 1978, Joe Walsh released “Life’s Been Good.”
In 1986, Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats was awarded an honorary Knighthood for his efforts to raise funds to eradicate famine in Ethiopia. Geldof and Ultravox’s Midge Ure organized the all-star Band-Aid to record “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” and the ensuing Live Aid benefit concerts.
In 2004, Ray Charles died at age 73 at his home in Beverly Hills of acute liver disease.
In 2016, Rod Stewart was knighted for services to music and charity.
