In 1965, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles’ classic “The Tracks Of My Tears” was released.

In 1973, George Harrison started a five-week run at #1 on the US album chart with Living In The Material World, his second US #1.

In 1995, Dan Rather appeared onstage with R.E.M. for a photo session at Madison Square Garden as the band rehearsed “What’s The Frequency, Kenneth?” The song referenced the incident years earlier where the CBS news anchor was mugged when he couldn’t come up with an answer to that bizarre question from his assailants.

In 2004, Bob Dylan was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Music degree by the University of St. Andrews, Scotland’s oldest university.

In 2010, Gregg Allman underwent a successful liver transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. In a statement to the press, Allman said, “I changed my ways years ago, but we can’t turn back time. Every day is a gift.”
