The SoCal Sound Session with Death Cab for Cutie at No Vacancy is brought to you by The SoCal Sound, CSUN & Saddleback College.
In this session, The SoCal Sound's host of The Open Road, Gary Calamar, chats with Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard! They discuss the brand-new album 'Asphalt Meadows,' the band's 10th studio album, over their 25 years together. Gibbard reflects on some challenges experienced while working on this record but points out that it has been a creatively fruitful time even with those challenges. Gibbard describes finding the beauty in acknowledging the dark and the wish to believe in something that provides solace, an uplifting underlying theme in the single "Here to Forever."
They talk about the kismet experienced with new producer John Congleton, whether songwriting gets easier over time, the tribute album to Yoko Ono that he curated, how his cellphone photo became the cover of 'Asphalt Meadows' & much more!
This SoCal Sound Session with Death Cab for Cutie at No Vacancy includes live performances of "Here to Forever," "Cath," and "Roman Candle,"
'Asphalt Meadows' is out now wherever you get your music!
The SoCal Sound Sessions are recorded live on location & in studio.
