GUSTER SoCal Sound Session with Nic Harcourt
Discussing the new album Ooh La La
Recorded in The SoCal Sound Studios, performing 3 songs + Interview
Guster has a new full length album titled Ooh La La, and they came to The SoCal Sound before their intimate show at Dynasty Typewriter in Los Angeles
Guster is a long time friend of The SoCal Sound, they came in early on for an in-studio audio only session in 2013, and they allowed us to capture their performance at Amoeba in 2019. Now they are back, and talking with Nic Harcourt, at The SoCal Sound's main studios!
In 2021, the band Guster celebrated 30 years of being a band together. The milestone is not lost on frontman and songwriter Ryan Miller, who discusses the longevity of the band and how the new album is a significant evolution for the band as far as meaning and how he approaches songwriting and life in general:
Ryan Miller “ you have a choice about how there's a story that we get to choose to tell ourselves about how we go through life. So I feel those things very deeply, and I think that putting those into song and to song and using producers and sounds and melodies and harmonies that support that, felt really important, you know what I mean? And I think this record is finding its way in some of our fans in a way that maybe our others that were like less heartfelt... there was definitely a choice around the music to try and be a positive force, or at least to be reflective in a way that wasn't like, everything sucks and we're all going to die or we're all going to die, but it's going to be okay!”
Guster performed 3 songs; “Keep Going”, “Black Balloon”, “Satellite”
Guster Ooh La La is available now on Ocho Mule
