Way Over Yonder, the west coast’s version of Newport Folk Fesitival, returns for it’s second year at the Santa Monica Pier September 26th and 27th and KCSN is proud to announce we will be the official radio sponsor. Good friend of KCSN Jackson Browne will headline with Local Natives, Lucinda Williams, Heartless Bastards, Houndmouth and more. Jackson is sure to bring some of his new tunes from his album out this fall along with his classics.
Newport Folk Festival®, one of the longest running and most historic music festivals in the U.S.A, first went west last year with the debut of Way Over Yonder. Newport Folk® producer Jay Sweet says: "We can't wait to return to the Pier. We made so many new friends on the West Coast last year who made us feel right at home, we're looking forward to re-connecting and meeting a whole bunch more."
The festival was met with open arms, spurring this year’s edition. Martin Fleischmann of Way Over Yonder partner Rum & Humble says “We’re thrilled to keep the Newport Folk tradition going, with a California spin to it. This year is going to build upon the foundation we’ve laid for a truly spectacular boutique festival.” In addition to the musical programming, and the many charms of the Santa Monica Pier, a carefully curated assortment of food and beverage vendors will be present to fortify the audience. Additionally a sod seating area will increase audience comfort.
